Martha's Vineyard French Restaurant | Le Grenier | SignWhen I was in the business I always looked forward to entertaining distributors and brand managers at the family cottage in the campgrounds. One night, my Rhode Island distributor and his family who were saying with us, went out to Le Grenier including his young boys, Gregory and Peter. We sensed a bit of concern [by the staff] bringing the two boys to an "adult" place but they were fabulous.

Vineyard Haven is BYOB so I was able to bring some of my wine. Jean always made the rounds if he could leave the kitchen for a moment. He often had a glass in hand. At our table he caught a generous refill and returned to the kitchen. I told Rick and Donna to keep a eye on the that door [as I had great
confidence in the product]. Sure enough, a few moments later, Jean bursts through the door into the dining room and directly to our table exclaiming, "Where did you get this?" I about fell off my chair laughing. The French take their wine so seriously especially a delicious, well made Pinot Noir– even if it came from Oregon!

Le Grenier is the best restaurant I have been to in Martha's Vineyard in my entire life. I have been going here for the past 7 years and I still love it!

Thank you for one of the best meals of my life! It was my first visit to Martha's Vineyard and fortunately, I met the right guy (your friend Jim) who took me there last Tuesday--which actually happened to be my birthday. I knew everything would be fantastic once I tasted the warm baguette and spread the
room-temperature butter that was creamy and so delicious (would like to know what you do to the butter!) I had the special lobster and scallops in cognac cream sauce, which was out of this world. Jim's swordfish special was outstanding but I couldn't get enough of my cognac cream sauce!

As Julia Child used to say--"Every calorie should be a GOOD calorie". Thank you for some of the most delicious calories ever--Le Grenier has knocked off the previous #2 on my list of all time favorite meals (tiny restaurant in Reyjkavik that served the best halibut). Number one remains the Rock House on
Harbour Island in the Bahamas so Le Grenier is now my favorite restaurant in the U.S. (also love Ouest in NYC).

Thank you very much for a truly memorable meal and experience--I'm hooked on the island and Le Grenier and will be back soon!

Monsieur Dupon,
As a French teacher in Virginia, I chose your restaurant as the location where I would introduce my engagement to my fiancee's parents after having spent a week with them on the Vineyard. Le Grenier was everything I was hoping it
would be and more for the setting. Your staff did an outstanding job in bringing out the the bottle of champagne I had brought by earlier in the day for the moment.

I am so very excited to have the chance to return to Le Grenier this Monday evening to celebrate our 2nd wedding anniversary. Browsing your menu on-line just makes my mouth water with indecision as to what we shall choose.

"My wife and I first discovered this wonderful restaurant on our honeymoon three years ago, and have been coming back each year since. We can’t say enough about the hospitality of Jean Dupon and his staff, as well as the fantastic menu. The warm and welcoming atmosphere make each visit a delight. Let me quickly give you a tidbit from our first experience at Le Grenier. My wife ordered the Portabella Mushroom Bisque, and it was so delicious that it made her cry (I’m not kidding). Jean came over to the table to see how we were doing, as he usually does with his all his guests, and was delighted to hear how much my wife enjoyed it. He proceeded to sit down at our table and write down the recipe for her. Then he gave her his cell phone number and told her to call him if she had any questions when trying to make it! I can honestly say that I’ve never seen anything like that at any restaurant I’ve been to.

We were both very impressed by this gracious man. So much so, that my wife had me take their picture together:) Our experience this year was once again delightful. We will continue to come back here every time we visit the island, and will never forget our first time on our honeymoon in 2007. Thank you Jean Dupon for continuing to run an A+ establishment, and for providing us all with a taste of European charm."

I was invited to join Tom's Christmas dinner for his employees at Le Grenier this past Thursday and I can honestly say it was the best meal I have ever had. The atmosphere was that of a family dinner, very warm and comfortable. The food was absolutely exquisite. I had the salmon and every bite was heaven. The warm chocolate bread pudding was the perfect ending to a perfect night. I was very sad to go and cannot wait to return. I used to complain that there was no good food on the island, thank you for proving me wrong! I can't stop talking about how great it was and I'm telling everyone, "Le Grenier you have to try it!"

"I have to say that after years of dining out in what are considered "fine" restaurants, I had the most amazing meal of my life in your place!!!! We numbered 6 and all were dying from heavenly fare. Dear Monsieur Dupon:

My husband and I dined at Le Grenier on May 4th celebrating our 20 wedding anniversary. We were seated in the far corner of the restaurant. Behind the table of people who had flown in from the mainland for their meal. I had duck (outstanding) and my husband had lamb (incredibly tender and delicious). What I remember most about the meal was the outstanding wild mushroom raviolis with ginger butter sauce. That dish was fabulous! I told you I wanted to lick the plate! We loved everything about the meal and your restaurant and had a memorable 20th anniversary dinner.

Monsieur Dupon,

Greetings! My wife and I are salivating as we review (for what seems the millionth time) your very special menu... I've known you since I was but a little boy, enjoying the wonders of steak au poivre and bananas flambé. And now my family-my wife Cassandra (the one who orders the Salmon Nantua off the menu), and my two children are getting to know Le Grenier well.

We will be staying on the Vineyard ... in late May and will be sure to stop in for a meal or two. My wife and I really cannot think of a more special or memorable restaurant on the entire planet than yours. We truly look forward to seeing you in a month. All the best to you and your son.
